The judges continue to make the tough call of who will go home before the final episode, when the Biggest Giver is named and the surprise ending is revealed.

You're welcome Rick...thanks for reading the post and for your comment!

According to other reports, "The Big Give" will last for ONLY 8 episodes.
*Probably due to the SURPRISE ending...but...that's just my opinion???!!

BTW--Found another link about this show that states: The validity of the authorship and creative credit is in question for this reality show, Harpo's first ever. In December 2006, a Federal lawsuit was filed in Boston and Winfrey, Harpo Productions, The Oprah Winfrey Show and ABC Television were named collectively as Defendants (Docket Number 06-12252). In the case, a mother of four, Darlene Tracy, a Massachusetts resident, claims to have proposed a reality series business plan to Harpo Productions in 2005 titled: "The Philanthropist". The business proposal is presumably similar in content to Oprah's Big Give. The case is currently before the First Circuit Court of Appeals in Massachusetts (Docket Number 07-1630). Ironically, The Big Give was set to air in the summer of 2007, then again in the fall of 2007, and now appears to be absent from any production announcements for both ABC and Harpo. Coincidentally or not, Oprah Winfrey and Harpo Productions, along with ABC have remained mysteriously silent with regards to the details of "The Big Give".

*Apparently, a settlement was reached since ABC and Harpo have released the show details and it is being promoted for ABC's Spring schedule.

The premise of TONTINE flipped on it's head shows the better side on mankind. Challenging contestants to give up their possessions for the good of others is a TOUGH(er) order.

In "Oprah's Big Give", what will competitors GET out of it?" Nothing tangible.
Will they screw others over on the way to the top?" Not in this game.
The willingness to exploit at every turn isn't going to help ya here.

Is possession really everything?

Cristi, thanks for your reply! When I read the premise of The Big Give (Contestants will travel through the U.S. completing tasks based around the communities' needs and changing the lives within them), I recalled YOUR previous post regarding "ideal" Tontine challenges.
Posted by Cristi on an old thread..."I hope Tontine does not buzz in & out of locations only to exploit native people & their environments. It would be great if some of the challenges require the cast to contribute (the players on the frontline with manpower, not monetarily from the production team) to the host countries."
**Like you, I embrace the idea of leaving POSITIVE FOOTPRINTS around the GLOBE!!!

This website was supposed to be aired in regard to AJ and her daughters on the first episode. The sole intention Eric and Steve hoped to accomplish was to help her mortgage be paid off once the show aired......

Sonja, thank you for sharing the tomeganfamily weblink with Tontine Nation. Are you affiliated with their fundraising efforts and/or a friend of the Egan family?

I watched the show premiere last night and was MOST touched by AJ's story and her courage! Hopefully, with increased awareness, she and her daughters WILL reach their mortgage payoff goal. I can't help but wonder what/any help she is receiving from Home Depot considering the fact that Tom lost his life while on his job (I did notice that HD have offered a $100,000 reward for information regarding to the capture and prosecution of his killer).

AJ has been my friend since high school. She is so amazing and strong....I entered her name for the show because of who her and Tom are...they were truly my best friends, which of course AJ still is!
But let me tell you, that Home Depot has not done anything money-wise for her....at least to this date, which is a year later. They paid for Tom's funeral and fixed some stuff in her house that Tom had started, but other than that, she's receiving workers' comp, which is only a portion of his pay. And the reward of 100,000...they actually were able to catch the guy from something Tom did (which can't be disclosed yet) which led to his capture, and AJ asked if she would get the reward due that reasoning and they told her no....how sad is that.
Thank you for your kind words about her....she truly is an amazing person and doesn't deserve such heartache. My goal with submitting her name was to make her life a little easier, since I know I could never bring her husband and best friend back to her, not to mention Katie and Jenna's dad....they miss him so!
